Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2024 Clausura, Week 17

Back just in time for the final week of the 2024 Clausura!

Hi dear reader! I want to apologize profusely for not following through on this over the past few weeks. I have been super busy with real life stuff (all good things I promise!) and took a week vacation in the middle to go and visit family in Florida. Hopefully you and yours are doing well.

Liga MX Femenil is heading into its final week of the 2024 Clausura, and things are really heating up. The top eight teams at the end of this week will be playing in the Liguilla, while the rest are free for the summer. Tigres, Pachuca, Rayadas, América, and Chivas have all punched their tickets. León would need to lose against Tijuana and have Juárez, Pumas, and Toluca to win in order for them to miss the playoffs. Juárez and Pumas are in with a win or losses by Toluca and Quéretaro, while Toluca and Querétaro need to win and get help in order to keep playing further into May. The rest of the teams are mathematically eliminated from this season, so are either playing for pride or to make sure their opponent joins them in starting their 2024 Apertura planning a little early.

Game of the Week

There are some really good head-to-head matchups this week, with Pachuca hosting Tigres, Rayadas hosting Chivas, and Juárez hosting América. And while all of these games will be entertaining to watch, I’m going to pick Pumas hosting Querétaro because this one has the most riding on it. While the aforementioned teams are all in (with the exception of Juárez) and have the luxury of resting players, Pumas and Querétaro need a result, especially if Toluca loses at Puebla. These teams will have absolutely nothing to lose, so watching two hungry teams going for broke is just the kind of spectacle I’m into. And the good news is that all of these games I just mentioned with the exception of the Pachuca-Tigres game will be (legally!) available to fans in the US and México.
