Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2024 Apertura, Week 1

Liga MX Femenil is back!

The 2024 Liga MX Femenil Apertura is upon us, and it really should be an interesting season. I can’t think of a team that didn’t get better (at least in theory) over the summer, so it’ll be interesting to see how dramatically some teams improved.

The one drawback however is that unfortunately the league website doesn’t have the channels listed for broadcast. I was able to get the listings for the games on ViX and over-the-air on FOX Deportes in the US, but I realize this falls way short of being useful.

I can offer that the Juárez and Atlas games should be on the FOX Sports app in the US but aren’t listed (which is de rigueur) and that Atlas and Santos use Facebook streams to broadcast their games. ViX is owned by Televisa (which also owns TUDN), so those games will probably be available in México over-the-air. Puebla home games aren’t (legally!) available in the US but have historically been on either Fox Sports and TV Azteca in México, Querétaro and Tijuana will be on Caliente TV this season (although it remains to be seen if it or the YouTube channel will be available in the US). And finally (at least for this week) San Luis games have historically been on ESPN in México but not in the US.

Good luck out there!

Game of the Week

Literally all of them. I’m excited to see how all of the teams are looking and watch them explore the endless possibilities of a new beginning. There are a lot of good storylines too, with players like Kenti Robles, Katty Martínez, Liliana Mercado, Sandra Paños, and Jana Gutiérrez making their debuts with their new teams.

I can’t in good conscience however weasel out of picking a game in the first week so I’ll go with the Clásico Joven between Cruz Azul and América. Cruz Azul shed a ton of players from last season and picked up a bunch of very good ones that I think will be able to make an instant impact and improvement over last season’s debacle. América didn’t pick up nearly as many players, but the ones they did are impact players and they’ll be strong contenders to see their name etched on the trophy on November 25th.
