Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Apertura, Week 4

First off, I’d like to apologize to everyone for missing the deadline on getting last week’s recap out. The World Cup has broken my sense of day and time. I’ll still get that sent out, but the viewing guide takes precedence becase the games start today and we should get some fun ones this weekend.

Three of the games will not be (legally!) available in the United States, but there is good news: Telemundo is now broadcasting Chivas home games on their Telemundo Deportes YouTube page. I’m bookmarking it and recommend you do the same if a.) you’re a Chivas fan or b.) your team will play Chivas.

This week’s GOTW was really difficult to pick, since there are really a few good ones happening. Juárez vs. Cruz Azul will be very good, as will América vs. Toluca. Even Necaxa vs. Puebla should be entertaining due to the teams being at about the same level of play.

Game of the Week

For me though it’s Chivas hosting Tigres. There’s so much history between these two teams, and even though Chivas has faltered a bit this season, it’s Tigres. The only other club Chivas needs nothing additional to get hyped to play is América. Chivas’ only blemish so far was a 1-1 draw in Tijuana, however they looked less than convincing in their 2-0 win over Puebla though they did look somewhat more convincing in their 3-0 win over Santos.

Tigres meanwhile beat Puebla and Juárez by matching 4-0 scorelines before thrashing Mazatlán 6-0. Yes, it’s been against two of the weaker teams in the league and one in a state of flux, but it’s still dominant especially considering Bianca Sierra is out on maternity leave, Deiry Ramírez is out with an ACL injury, and Mia Fishel is not registered with the team, rumored to be heading to Chelsea.

This should still be a test for both teams and a fun watch for the neutral fans - and thankfully should be available (legally!) for free (at least in the United States).
