Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Apertura, Week 2

This week’s slate of games has some fairly entertaining ones, especially pitting teams we still don’t know a whole lot about against one another. Mazatlán for instance looked decent against Cruz Azul last week, and looking decent is a marked improvement for them. They’re hosting the revamped Toluca, who went toe-to-toe with Rayadas last week. It’s kind of the same dynamic with Pumas and Atlas, Necaxa and Tijuana, and Pachuca and Cruz Azul for that matter. Are any of these teams as good as we think? We’re going to find out.

The good news is that all of the games will be available in Mexico and there are a lot of games free to watch in the US this weekend on ViX. The bad news is that three of the games won’t be (legally!) available in the US, including Mazatlán vs. Toluca and Pachuca vs. Cruz Azul.

Game of the Week

For me, the low-grade rivalry between Juárez and Tigres will be the best viewing of the week. The storylines here are almost infinite, whether you look at Miah Zuazua leaving Tigres to go to Juárez and become a budding star in the league, Mila Martínez taking Juárez to new heights before jumping ship to Tigres, the established power (Tigres) facing down the up-and-coming power (Tigres), this should be a fun one to watch.
