Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Apertura, Week 15

We are heading into the home stretch.

Apologies dear reader. I completely missed the fact that Liga MX Femenil had mid-week matches this week, although in full transparency the way this week has gone I don’t know if I would have been able to write a viewing guide anyway. All will be revealed, in time. Enough about me though. There are games coming up on the back end of this weekend to get to.

While we’ve had several weeks of soccer where the teams were more or less equally matched, this week is the week that evens things out. While there will be some evenly matched teams, there are also some potential whoopings upsets in the making.

Game of the Week

Cruz Azul and Tijuana are one of those sets of teams that are close enough in where they are that it should be a good match. Cruz Azul has a bit of an advantage, with the match at La Noria and playing at noon under the sun. Tijuana’s home matches are usually at night, and coupled with the change in time zone and altitude, it will not be an easy time for Xolos Femenil.

That said, Xolos Femenil are (on paper at least) the better team. They will clinch a Liguilla berth with a win and, depending on the Rayadas result, could end up in fourth place going into the final two weeks. They also picked up a 3-2 win at Pachuca, which is no small task. Cruz Azul however looked good value in holding Tigres to just one goal in a 1-0 result at El Volcán.
