Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Clausura, Liguilla Semifinals

How to (legally) watch all of this week's Liga MX Femenil games in the United States and México.

Four teams remain, with both sets of matches shaping up to be good contests between teams in similar situations. América and Tigres both breezed through the quarterfinal round to face one another, while Pachuca and Rayadas both faced stiff opposition to emerge into the semifinal round. We should be treated to four really good games, however the viewing may be difficult if you’re in the United States. All games will be over the air in México, but in the US it’ll be streaming services ViX and the FOX Sports App for all but the Pachuca home game, which isn’t going to be legally available north of the border. Still, check your local listings not only for what times the matches will start but for any last minute additions to either streaming services or (if we’re lucky) over the air and on cable.

The Matchups

América vs. Tigres UANL: Two historic rivals will face off in the semifinals in what should be a cerebral matchup. Both teams have found their form over the past couple of months, kind of flying under the radar (as much as two of the biggest teams in México can, at least) to arrive in the Liguilla.

This should be a relatively close series, and I’m most interested to see what happens the first time these teams face some adversity since their quarterfinals were relatively easy. Neither team was trailing at any point in the last series, and when someone goes down a goal I’ll be interested to see how they react.

Pachuca vs. Monterrey: This one should be fun. Both of these teams can score goals in bunches, so it may come down to which ever defense holds the best. Can Monterrey contain Jenni Hermoso, Charlyn Corral, Viri Salazar, Mónica Ocampo, and Alice Soto? Can Pachuca deal with Christina Burkenroad, Desirée Monsiváis, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Aylin Aviléz?

The goalkeepers will play huge roles in this too. Both Esthefanny Barreras and Alex Godínez will get tested, and both will need to be at the top of their game for their team to go on. Both are capable of turning it on and playing lights out, but we’ve seen both struggle at times this season too, letting in soft goals. This one could come down to one mistake that gives someone the advantage, and you just hope it’s the other team that makes it.
