Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Clausura, Liguilla Finals

How to (legally) watch all of this week's Liga MX Femenil games in the United States and México.

We’ve finally arrived at our destination. Since the first games back in the first week of January, Liga MX Femenil has been building to this moment. The stories of this season, from Juárez’ Cinderella run to Toluca’s meltdown-to-almost-making-Liguilla to the race between teammates Charlyn Corral and Jenni Hermoso to the Golden Boot and a record 20 goals are merely the foundation this Final will rest upon. 16 teams have bowed out, and only América and Pachuca remain.

The Matchup

América comes in after dethroning reigning champions Tigres after a brutal series. Alison González, whose goal in the first leg really gave América a huge advantage both on the scoresheet and psychologically, might miss the series with a sprained neck suffered in the second leg.

América however was able to unlock Tigres, luring them in to getting out of position and neutralizing their potent attack. They did their homework against the defending champions, not allowing their loss in last season’s Finals be in vain.

Pachuca meanwhile proved in the last series that they are multidimensional and can adjust and adapt. While the offense was the most powerful in the league this past season (and possibly one of the most powerful in league history), the defense won the series against Rayadas. Everyone committed to the bit, with even Jenni Hermoso dropping deeper to clog up lanes and force turnovers. And perhaps not enough ink has been spilled about the performance of Esthefanny Barreras, but she put on an absolute clinic in goal in the last series. Barreras stood on her head to keep Rayadas scoreless for 180 minutes, which is an amazing feat.

We are going to witness two teams who are really at the top of their game both in terms of ability to execute a game plan but also in being cerebral teams able to solve problems on the fly. This should be a fun series, worthy of the five months we’ve been waiting for this moment to arrive.
