Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Apertura, Week 9

There is going to be so much soccer this weekend, and so much of it is going to be good viewing. Not only are the league games going to mostly be between teams that should be competitive with one another, but there’s a game that was postponed (Atlas vs. San Luis on Thursday) and two international friendlies between Tigres and Barcelona Femení and América and Real Madrid.

The best part of all of this might just be that all of the games are going to be (legally!) broadcast in Mexico, while three of the games are going to be (legally!) broadcast in the United States.

Game of the Week

It would be tempting to list one of the friendlies, but staying with the spirit of this column I’m going with Tigres vs. América. The teams sit one-two on the league table and by the time this one kicks off, both will have played friendlies against two of the best teams in women’s soccer in the world.

Beyond that, there are the storylines that add the flavor to every rivalry. Former Tigres players like Katty Martínez and Alison González going up against their former team, while Tigres can hold the fact that they have won titles won as many titles against América as América has won period. These are two of the best that women’s soccer has to offer, so sit back and enjoy.
