Liga MX Femenil viewing guide: 2023 Apertura, Week 1

Year seven of Liga MX Femenil begins in earnest with the first kick of the Toluca vs. Rayadas match tonight. While it’s only been 38 days since the conclusion of the 2023 Clausura, it somehow seems like it’s been an eternity and an instant at the same time.

Hopefully this be one of the more competitive seasons, with even teams that struggled last season making some gains (at least on paper) in their squads. And fortunately we’ll be able to (legally!) watch most of the matches. All matches will be available in Mexico either via streaming or over the air, while all but the León vs. Necaxa and Mazatlán vs. Cruz Azul matches will be available in the US.

The only game that won’t be available anywhere is the Atlas vs. Querétaro match, which will be rescheduled after it was announced that work to replace and improve the drainage system at Estadio Jalisco would take a little longer than expected. When it’s rescheduled, it should be available on FOX in both the US and Mexico.

Game of the Week

It has to be the Clásico Capitalino between Pumas and América. Not only are we treated to a bona-fide clásico in Week 1, it’ll also mark the debut of Desireé Monsiváis with Pumas (at home no less) as well as Aylin Aviléz with América. América will be looking to get some good momentum going after being shut out in the Campeón de Campeonas against Tigres, while Pumas wants to prove that they’ve taken a step to the next level. Luckily for all involved, this match will be available (legally!) in both México and the United States.
