Fútnotes, Volume 31
All the news that's fit to print, and then some...
I want to start off by saying that I’m not going to devote any more energy to the Luis Rubiales saga, other than to say the outpouring of support for Jenni Hermoso is heartwarming, and Rubiales’ fate is most likely sealed because of the outpouring of support from the world over. There are plenty of great articles out there on the subject, far too many to include in this newsletter. Hopefully his ouster happens sooner rather than later, and I also hope we see this sort of energy the next time players speak up about abuses within their technical staff or federation, even if they didn’t just win the World Cup.

A subject that’s near to my heart is the prospect of an NWSL team in Philadelphia. Jonathan Tannenwald of the Philadelphia Inquirer asked Philadelphia Union manager Jim Curtin “If someone from a NWSL team called him to ask how the Union built up their youth academy, and what lessons could work on the women's side,” what would he say? Curtin is a student of the game and understands things on a lot of different, nuanced levels and I really enjoyed his answer. (Jonathan Tannenwald via Twitter)
