Fútnotes, Volume 11

All the news that's fit to print, and then some...

While most of the news this week focused on national team call-ups (more on that in a future edition…) there were some other things that happened in women’s soccer around the world.

México

Desirée Monsiváis announced she was going for her UEFA B Coaching License in Scotland. Monsiváis spent a spell with Glasgow City in 2022.

Nike was named an official sponsor of Liga MX Femenil. (Liga MX Femenil) While BBVA bank will still hold rights to the league’s name, Nike has already provided cleats to clubs for both U18 and first teams.

Rest of the World

The mother of former NWSL Draft Pick Mykiaa Minniss took to social media to outline the younger Minniss’ experience as a draft pick, which resulted in her giving up on soccer for the time being.

The San Francisco Glens signed Bridgette Marin-Valencia, an El Tri Femenil U20 player for their upcoming summer season.

Diana Ordóñez and María Sánchez became the first pair of Mexican teammates to score in a single NWSL match.

Speaking of Ordóñez and Sánchez, they will be hosting a soccer clinic in Houston ahead of México’s friendly against the Houston Dash.

Sinead Farrelly made her return to the NWSL on Saturday night as Gotham FC lost to OL Reign. Farrelly was greeted by Mana Shim, who announced earlier in the day she had become engaged to Washington Post journalist Molly Hensley-Clancy. Congratulations to all.

Don’t ever let them tell you no one pays attention to women’s soccer.
