Fútnotes, Volume 10

All the news that's fit to print, and then some...

A lot of news from this past week. Some good, some bad, some really ugly.

México

Chivas manager Juan Pablo Alfaro was named Player of the Match in their 2-2 draw against Rayadas. No, none of that was mistyped.

Stefany Mayor missed the Clásico Regio with a grade two sprain to her right ankle. Her recovery will be monitored, and no timetable is set for her return.

Scarlett Camberos transferred from Club América to Angel City FC, hopefully ending the awful situation she was put in by a stalker. In América’s statement, it’s revealed that the person who did this was subject to 36 hours of house arrest - apparently the maximum allowed under Mexican law.

Selene Cortés posted screenshots of some of the harassment she has received. It’s as gross as you’d imagine.

Several teams wore jerseys with the names of inspirational women in their lives, which is always so cool to see.

Rest of the World

México National Team forward Katie Johnson made her 100th appearance in NWSL.

This weekend was a banner weekend for women’s soccer not only in México but around the world as well. For starters, 18,900 showed up for the Clásico Nacional.

The Clásico Regio drew 30,877 in attendance.

Angel City FC’s home opener was a sellout.

The San Diego Wave set an opening day record of 30,854 tickets sold.

Don’t ever let them tell you no one pays attention to women’s soccer.
